Aituaje Iruobe, popularly known as Waje, is dedicating part of her time and resources to the less privileged as she launched her NGO known as Waje Safe House to coincide with the celebration of Nigeria’s 52nd independence day anniversary on Monday.
The singer said the idea to reach out to some needy people in the society began to germinate when she visited a children’s school at the slum quarters of Makoko in Lagos, an area populated by mostly low income earners. There, she said she met a lady, Doyinsola Ogunye, who works with an aid agency, already doing something to better the lots of the indigent children and between them the seed to do something to help others began its growth of love.
“Faith without works is dead, we won’t just hope, we will continue to work our way through” Waje said of her intention “ The Project is one very dear to me. It concerns some of the poorest but most cheerful kids ever . Every quarter, Waje Safe House will partner with an NGO to raise funds and awareness for their projects” she said.
Explaining further on what will be the mission of the NGO, Waje maintained that her NGO has no particular mission but said it will be a ‘Safe’ house for other NGOs and their projects with basic mission of raising funds for them to achieve their set goals. Already, she is said to be working with Doyinsola Ogunye’s outfit.
“The Waje Safe House is an initiative of Waje that is aimed at supporting NGO’s and causes that need help to achieve their goals and targets” the singer posted on her Facebook wall.
