Award winning director, Kunle Afolayan is scheduled to begin shooting his third feature film this year – possibly in March. The movie, which is titled October 1, will reportedly cost $2 million. This is quite a large budget by Nollywood standards. The movie is a psychological thriller, set on the verge of Nigeria’s independence.

The movie tells the story of a police detective in northern Nigeria, who is dispatched to a trading post in the western Nigeria, to solve a series of horrific murders. What ensues is a race against the clock to solve the crimes before Independence Day on October, 1960. The movie was written by Tunde Babalola, who also wrote The Meeting.
