With an impressive monster track and video for Show Me Yur Rozay,
award winning Dancehall artiste, Ketchup has gradually wormed his way
into the hearts of many fans in and outside the Nigeria as well as the
Nigerian music industry.
Emmanuel
Nkemjika Onyido, also known as Ketchup grew up listening to the likes
of Ebenezer Obey, Sir Sina Peters, Bob Marley and Shakedemus. He studied
in Lagos and Ife, Nigeria before heading to Atlantic College, KL
Malaysia where he studied Mass Communications.
Throughout his school days, the talented artiste kept in touch with his love for music. He released his first official single, Nuvo in 2010 which got major airplays and bagged him an award at the Malaysian AEA Music Awards.
He
later came to Nigeria and released another single, On The Beat”
featuring Rayce in 2012. During this time, he met the talented producer,
'EmmyACE' and together, they created a new direction for Ketchup’s
music and released the club banger, Show Me Yuh Rozay which is up till date getting massive airplay on radio and also in clubs nationwide.
Ketchup immediately followed with a chart-topping video for the track, Show Me Yur Rozay which was directed by Squareball Adasa.
He says, “Music
was something I realised I was going to do very early… Since I
relocated back to Nigeria, the reception from fans and the Nigerian
industry has been overwhelming”.
Ketchup
who has become a household name with an increasing fan base is
currently working with a number of talented producers like, EKelly,
Shizzy, Vic James, EmmyACE among others on his debut album which is
scheduled to be released later in the year.
He
advices young upcoming artistes like himself to focus on their dreams
till they achieve the best. He says, “Stay strong… work on your music
and don’t let one people make you feel any less than what you are… Work
hard and dream big because it is achievable”
