Lagos recently hosted the annual Badagry Festival featuring a number of cultural and sporting activities.

This year's festival was held in honour of Marcus Garvey, an active supporter of the "Back to Africa" movement in the United States, which aims to bridge the gap between Africans living abroad and Africa.

Babatunde Olaide Mesewaku, president of the African Renaissance Foundation (AREFO), told Waka About the festival is held "to sensitise the people toward the need for preservation and conservation of both their tangible and intangible cultural heritage."
