The hip hop industry rolled out its biggest guns and turned out in force for the BET Hip Hop Awards this weekend. Hosted by rap legend Snoop Dogg, the awards featured high energy performances from Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, French Montana, Rick Ross, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Yo Gotti, among many others.
The 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards took place on Saturday 28 September at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta will premiere on BET International October 18th.
At the annual celebration, now in its eighth year, the BET Hip Hop Awards pays homage to the best in hip hop music, honouring the hip hop legends that have and continue to make hip hop culture a global force, with an unforgettable night of performances, cyphers and artist tributes.
Stars walking the red carpet at this year’s awards included Eve, Kevin Hart, Lil’ Momma, Nelly, Diddy, French Montana, Schoolboy Q and Jay Rock, while this year's highest honour went to 80s rapper MC Lyte, who was presented the prestigious “I Am Hip Hop Award” by Eve. The TV broadcast of the awards will also feature the infamous Hip Hop Awards “Cyphers” as the hottest MCs deliver 16 bars that everyone will be talking about for the rest of the year. Among the cyphers to watch are Lil’ Kim, and the cast of Real Husbands of Hollywood.
BET International is available to 50 territories in sub-Saharan Africa via a wide range of DTH, DTT and cable platforms including Zuku (Channel 125), TopTV (Channel 190), DStv (Channel 135), GOtv (Channel 22), Startimes, MyTV and ZAP (Channel 74).
