The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed concerns that the exit of former Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Adamu, from the party could affect its chances in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on the development, the party’s national chairman stated that Adamu’s departure would not have any significant impact on the APC’s political strength or electoral prospects ahead of the next general elections.

According to the chairman, the APC remains firmly rooted across the country, with a strong support base and established political structure capable of withstanding individual defections.

“The strength of the APC lies in its collective membership and nationwide presence. While we respect the decisions of individuals, the party remains focused on its mission and preparations for future elections,” he said.

The chairman further emphasized that the party is committed to consolidating its achievements, strengthening internal unity, and expanding its support base as preparations for the 2027 polls gather momentum.

The remarks come amid increasing discussions surrounding political realignments, party defections, and strategic positioning among key political actors ahead of the next election cycle.

Despite concerns raised by some observers, APC leaders maintain that the party remains well-positioned to navigate political challenges and retain its influence on Nigeria’s political landscape.

Political analysts have noted that defections are a common feature of Nigeria’s political environment, particularly as elections approach. However, the APC insists that its focus remains on governance, party-building, and ensuring electoral success in 2027.
