The Niger Delta Congress (NDC) has been granted access to upload its candidates directly to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to party official Dickson.
Dickson disclosed that INEC approved the party’s request, enabling the NDC to manage the electronic submission of its candidates through the commission’s online nomination platform. The development is expected to facilitate a smoother and more efficient candidate registration process.
According to him, the approval allows the party to submit candidate information promptly and accurately, reducing administrative delays and enhancing compliance with INEC’s electoral procedures.
The move reflects the electoral commission’s continued adoption of technology to improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability in election administration. Electronic candidate submission has become a key component of INEC’s efforts to modernize Nigeria’s electoral process.
Dickson described the approval as an important milestone for the party as it intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections. He expressed confidence that the electronic system would simplify the nomination process while ensuring that all required documentation is submitted within the stipulated timelines.
Political parties across the country are expected to continue preparations for the upcoming elections by meeting INEC’s guidelines on candidate nomination and other statutory requirements.
The development comes as stakeholders continue to emphasize the importance of credible electoral processes, with technology playing an increasingly significant role in improving election management and reducing administrative bottlenecks.
As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, the approval granted to the NDC underscores INEC’s commitment to leveraging digital platforms to enhance the efficiency and integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system.
