The Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) has unveiled an ambitious development programme under its new president, Engineer Chukwudi Dimkpa, as the federation seeks to strengthen the growth and competitiveness of karate in Nigeria.
The new leadership marks the beginning of a strategic push focused on improving the standard of the sport at both grassroots and elite levels. The federation intends to expand participation while creating better opportunities for athletes to develop their skills and compete at higher levels.
A major part of the programme is expected to involve closer collaboration among athletes, coaches, administrators, and other stakeholders. By bringing these groups together, the federation hopes to establish a more coordinated approach to talent development and the administration of karate.
The KFN also aims to improve Nigeria’s performance in international competitions. Strengthening training structures, encouraging wider participation, and creating a sustainable pathway for emerging athletes could help the country produce more competitive karate practitioners.
Dimkpa’s leadership is therefore expected to focus not only on immediate competitive results but also on establishing structures capable of supporting the sport over the long term.
