A former Super Eagles player has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to begin preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup immediately, stressing that long-term planning is essential for sustained success on the global stage.

The former international argued that waiting until the tournament draws closer would limit Nigeria’s chances of building a competitive national team capable of challenging the world’s best. He urged the federation to adopt a strategic approach focused on player development, technical planning, and football infrastructure.

According to him, early preparation should include identifying and nurturing young talents, strengthening grassroots football, improving coaching standards, and ensuring continuity within the national team setup. He noted that countries that perform consistently at major tournaments often benefit from years of deliberate planning.

The appeal comes as discussions continue over the future direction of Nigerian football following recent international competitions. Stakeholders have repeatedly emphasized the importance of long-term investment rather than short-term solutions in achieving sustained success.

The former Super Eagles star also encouraged greater collaboration between the NFF, government agencies, clubs, and private sector partners to provide the financial and institutional support needed for effective planning.

With the 2030 FIFA World Cup still several years away, he believes Nigeria has sufficient time to build a formidable squad and strengthen its football structures, provided preparations begin without delay.

His comments reinforce growing calls for the NFF to implement a comprehensive roadmap that positions the Super Eagles for a successful campaign at the next World Cup.
