The National Commission for Almajiri Education has clarified that the projects attracting attention in the 2026 federal budget are constituency interventions initiated by members of the National Assembly rather than independent programmes of the commission.

In a statement addressing the controversy, the commission explained that the projects were included as part of constituency initiatives proposed by lawmakers to support development within their respective constituencies. It noted that the projects have generated public scrutiny due to their appearance in the budget but remain consistent with the established framework for constituency interventions.

According to the commission, the projects are legitimate legislative interventions designed to address local needs and should not be interpreted as separate programmes independently conceived or implemented by the agency.

The clarification comes amid increased public interest in the composition of the 2026 budget and calls for greater transparency in the allocation of public funds. The commission maintained that the projects are aligned with legislative priorities and intended to deliver targeted benefits to communities across the country.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, while urging the public to distinguish between statutory agency projects and constituency interventions facilitated through the National Assembly.
