The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has advised members of the public not to reject genuine N100 banknotes, reaffirming that all standard notes issued by the apex bank remain legal tender and should be accepted for transactions.

The clarification follows reports that some individuals and businesses have refused to accept certain N100 notes despite their authenticity. The CBN stressed that such notes are valid for use across the country and should not be discriminated against during commercial activities.

The apex bank urged Nigerians to remain vigilant against counterfeit currency while ensuring that genuine banknotes continue to circulate freely. It also encouraged members of the public to report cases involving fake currency or the unlawful rejection of valid notes to the appropriate authorities.

According to the CBN, the acceptance of all authentic naira notes is essential for maintaining confidence in the nation’s currency and ensuring the smooth flow of economic activities.

The bank reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s currency system and called on businesses, financial institutions, and the general public to comply with regulations governing the use of legal tender.
