The Federal Government has commenced an investigation into reports of a suspected chemical spill along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway, with relevant authorities working to determine the source and potential impact of the incident.

According to officials, preliminary assessments are underway to establish whether hazardous substances were released on the busy highway and to evaluate any risks to motorists, nearby communities, and the environment.

Although the exact cause of the suspected spill has not yet been confirmed, emergency response agencies have been mobilised to examine the affected area and implement necessary safety measures while investigations continue.

The government said the probe is aimed at identifying the nature of the substance involved, containing any potential environmental hazards, and preventing further risks to public health and road users. Authorities have also urged commuters to exercise caution while travelling through the area and to comply with any traffic or safety directives issued by emergency personnel.

The investigation remains ongoing, with further updates expected as officials gather more information about the incident and its possible implications.
