Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has described the political alliance between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as fundamentally different from emerging opposition coalitions, saying the contrast is “like day and night.”
Speaking on Nigeria’s evolving political landscape ahead of future elections, Governor Sule argued that comparing the Tinubu-Shettima partnership with alliances involving Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, and Rotimi Amaechi does not present an accurate picture of the country’s political dynamics.
According to the governor, the Tinubu-Shettima alliance is built on a long-standing political relationship, shared vision, and coordinated governance, distinguishing it from other coalitions that have recently come together. He maintained that the administration’s focus remains on implementing policies and delivering governance rather than engaging in political realignments.
Sule noted that while political alliances are a normal feature of democratic systems, the strength of any coalition ultimately depends on its cohesion, leadership, and ability to deliver results for citizens. He urged Nigerians to assess political groupings based on their track records, policy direction, and capacity to address national challenges.
The governor’s remarks come amid increasing political consultations and alliance-building across party lines as key political figures position themselves ahead of the next election cycle. His comments add to the broader national conversation on the nature and viability of Nigeria’s emerging political coalitions.
