Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has alleged that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar offered ₦5 million to the late Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Salisu Na’Abba, to facilitate impeachment proceedings against him during his administration.
Obasanjo made the allegation while reflecting on political events that took place during his years in office. According to the former president, the alleged payment was intended to persuade Na’Abba to support efforts to remove him from office through the National Assembly.
The former president said the alleged incident underscored the intense political rivalry and power struggles that characterized his administration. He suggested that attempts were made through legislative channels to unseat him.
