Mining Marshals operating in Kogi State have rejected recent statements made by a member of the House of Representatives from the state, describing the remarks as inaccurate and unrepresentative of their position.
In response, the marshals submitted a formal petition to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, seeking intervention and expressing dissatisfaction with what they described as a misrepresentation of their activities and interests.
According to the group, the lawmaker’s comments do not reflect the realities surrounding mining operations in Kogi State. They maintained that they remain committed to supporting lawful mining activities and enforcing regulations aimed at promoting order within mining communities.
The marshals also called for direct engagement with relevant authorities on issues affecting their operations, stressing that their concerns should not be conveyed through political figures without proper consultation.
