Nigeria’s Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has called on Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid‑el‑Fitr as a time for national renewal, unity, and reflection.
In a message marking the Muslim festival, Lawan said the celebration offers an opportunity for citizens to strengthen bonds of unity and promote peaceful coexistence across the country.
Call for Unity and Reflection
The Senate President noted that Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, encourages values such as compassion, sacrifice, and generosity.
He urged Nigerians to reflect on these values and apply them in their daily lives, particularly in efforts to build a stronger and more united nation.
Encouraging National Cooperation
Lawan emphasised that beyond its religious significance, the festival also provides an opportunity for citizens to renew their commitment to national development and peaceful coexistence.
According to him, unity and collective responsibility are essential for addressing the country’s challenges and advancing Nigeria’s progress.
Message to Muslims and Nigerians
He congratulated Muslim faithful across the country for successfully completing the Ramadan fast and encouraged them to continue promoting tolerance, mutual respect, and cooperation in their communities.
The Senate President also called on Nigerians of all backgrounds to embrace the spirit of the season by supporting one another and working together toward national peace and stability.
