Isaac Fayose has urged his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, to relinquish his newly announced appointment as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), arguing that the position does not reflect his political stature.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, Isaac Fayose suggested that the former governor should instead allow his son to take up the role. He maintained that Ayo Fayose remains too influential in Nigerian politics to occupy what he described as a relatively modest public office.
His comments came in response to the Presidency’s announcement appointing Ayo Fayose as chairman of the REA board. The former governor was among 26 individuals named to lead the boards of 10 federal agencies and commissions.
According to Isaac Fayose, his brother’s political experience and profile make him suitable for more prominent national responsibilities. While congratulating him on the appointment, he questioned whether the position fully reflected his standing in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The Presidency has yet to respond to Isaac Fayose’s remarks, and there has been no indication from Ayo Fayose that he intends to decline or relinquish the appointment.
