The Idoma National Forum has blamed security agencies for their alleged failure to prevent the recent killings in Otukpo, describing the tragic loss of lives as evidence of serious lapses in the region’s security response.

In a statement, the forum expressed disappointment over what it described as the inability of security personnel to provide adequate protection for residents before and during the attacks. It argued that a more proactive and timely response could have helped reduce the scale of the violence.

The group called on the relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and hold those responsible for any operational failures accountable. It also urged the government to strengthen security measures in Otukpo and other vulnerable communities to prevent similar attacks in the future.

According to the forum, restoring public confidence will require improved intelligence gathering, rapid deployment of security personnel, and sustained efforts to protect lives and property. It stressed that communities must not continue to bear the consequences of preventable security failures.

The Otukpo killings have renewed concerns over insecurity in the area, with residents and community leaders calling for stronger government intervention and lasting measures to safeguard affected communities.
