Residents of a community in Ogun State have appealed to the local government to provide essential medical equipment for a newly constructed health centre, saying the facility cannot effectively serve the public without the necessary resources.
Community leaders noted that while the health centre represents a significant step toward improving healthcare access, the absence of medical equipment has prevented it from becoming fully operational. They stressed that residents continue to travel long distances to access basic healthcare services despite the availability of the new facility.
The community called on the local government to prioritize the provision of medical equipment, furniture, and other essential supplies needed to enable healthcare workers to deliver quality services.
Residents also emphasized that equipping the health centre would improve access to primary healthcare, reduce pressure on nearby medical facilities, and contribute to better health outcomes for women, children, and other vulnerable groups.
The appeal underscores the importance of complementing healthcare infrastructure projects with adequate equipment and operational support to ensure communities benefit fully from government investments in the health sector.
