The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arraigned alleged drug kingpin Anochili, three Mexican nationals, and six other suspects over alleged drug trafficking and related offences.
The defendants appeared before the court where the charges were formally presented. Following the proceedings, the court ordered that all the accused persons be remanded in correctional custody pending the hearing of their bail applications and the commencement of trial.
According to the NDLEA, the prosecution is part of its sustained efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating within and outside Nigeria. The agency noted that the involvement of foreign nationals highlights the cross-border nature of illicit drug operations and the need for continued collaboration with international law enforcement agencies.
The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and prosecuting individuals suspected of participating in the illegal narcotics trade. It added that investigations into the case remain ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the alleged criminal network.
The matter has been adjourned to a later date as legal proceedings continue.
