A senior finance operative of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has surrendered to Nigerian troops in Borno State alongside his two sons, in what security authorities describe as another breakthrough in ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the North-East.
According to military sources, the surrender occurred during sustained operations targeting insurgent strongholds across Borno State. The development is seen as a reflection of the increasing pressure being mounted on terrorist groups by the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Following the surrender, the former ISWAP operative and his two sons were taken into military custody for profiling, debriefing, and other necessary procedures.
