A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has called on the party leadership to respect the outcomes of its recently concluded primary elections ahead of the official release of its candidates’ list.

The group stressed that the results of the primaries represent the authentic choice of party members and should be upheld without alterations. It warned that any attempt to override or modify the outcomes could create internal tensions and undermine unity within the party.

According to the stakeholders, maintaining the integrity of the primary election process is essential to ensuring fairness, credibility, and trust in the APC’s internal democratic system. They argued that confirming the declared winners would help strengthen party cohesion as preparations continue for upcoming elections.

The appeal comes amid broader discussions about internal democracy within political parties in Nigeria, with increasing calls for transparency and adherence to established electoral procedures.

The group further urged the APC national leadership to ensure that the final list of candidates reflects the decisions made during the primaries, emphasizing that respecting the process would enhance stability and reduce post-primary disputes.

They noted that political parties that prioritize fairness in candidate selection are better positioned to maintain unity and perform effectively in general elections.

As the APC moves toward finalizing its candidates’ list, attention remains focused on how the leadership will handle concerns raised by stakeholders in various states, including Benue.
