Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Adeboye has called for increased international collaboration to accelerate the development of badminton in Nigeria, commending Japan’s growing investment in grassroots programmes across the country.
According to Adeboye, Japan’s support represents an important step toward strengthening the foundation of badminton in Nigeria by creating opportunities for young players to develop their skills through improved coaching, training, and access to modern facilities.
He noted that international partnerships play a crucial role in raising the standard of sports development, providing Nigerian athletes with greater exposure and opportunities to compete at the highest levels. Adeboye encouraged other countries, sports organizations, and development partners to emulate Japan’s commitment by supporting similar initiatives aimed at nurturing young talent.
The expanded grassroots programme is expected to enhance talent identification, promote wider participation in badminton, and create a sustainable pathway for future national and international success.
Adeboye expressed optimism that continued collaboration between Nigeria and global partners would strengthen the country’s badminton ecosystem, improve sports infrastructure, and position Nigerian players to compete more effectively on the international stage.
