President Bola Tinubu has sworn in newly appointed commissioners for the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the National Population Commission (NPC), reinforcing the leadership of two key federal institutions.
The swearing-in ceremony marked the official commencement of the commissioners’ tenure, with President Tinubu emphasizing the importance of their responsibilities in supporting effective governance, fiscal management, and national development.
The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission plays a critical role in advising on revenue allocation among the federal, state, and local governments, as well as overseeing matters relating to fiscal policy and remuneration for public office holders. Meanwhile, the National Population Commission is responsible for managing population data, conducting national censuses, and providing demographic statistics essential for policy formulation and development planning.
President Tinubu urged the newly inaugurated commissioners to discharge their duties with professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the public interest. He stressed the need for transparency, accountability, and efficiency in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
The appointments are expected to strengthen the operational capacity of both commissions as they continue implementing policies and programmes that support economic planning, resource distribution, and population management.
Stakeholders have noted that effective leadership at the RMAFC and NPC is vital for improving revenue allocation processes, enhancing demographic data collection, and supporting evidence-based policymaking across all levels of government.
The inauguration forms part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to fill strategic public offices and improve institutional performance in key sectors of governance.
As the commissioners assume office, expectations remain high that they will contribute to improved service delivery and help advance Nigeria’s development objectives through efficient administration and sound policy implementation.
