The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced a performance-based incentive for Nigeria’s Super Falcons ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), pledging a $5,000 bonus for every goal the team scores during the group stage of the tournament.
The incentive is aimed at motivating the nine-time African champions to begin their campaign strongly while reinforcing the commission’s commitment to supporting the country’s women’s national football team.
In addition to the financial reward, the NSC has completed the necessary administrative processes and submitted relevant documentation to demonstrate its official backing for the team’s participation in the continental championship.
The commission said the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s continued investment in women’s football and its determination to provide the Super Falcons with the support needed to compete successfully against Africa’s best teams.
The announcement has been welcomed by football stakeholders and supporters, who believe the incentive could further motivate the players as they pursue another WAFCON title.
