Joint security operatives comprising the Nigeria Police Force and military troops have rescued a staff member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who was abducted in Zamfara State, while also repelling coordinated attacks by suspected bandits in the area.

The successful operation followed intensified security efforts targeting criminal hideouts across affected communities. During the operation, security personnel engaged the armed bandits, forcing them to retreat and preventing further attacks on residents and public facilities.

The rescued INEC official was safely recovered during the operation, marking another breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat insecurity in the state. Authorities said the coordinated response helped restore calm in the affected communities and disrupted the activities of the criminal groups.

Security agencies reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining operations against banditry and other violent crimes across Zamfara and neighbouring states. They also urged residents to continue supporting security efforts by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing future attacks.

The latest operation underscores the continued collaboration between the police and the military in addressing security challenges and safeguarding lives, property, and critical public institutions.
