The Rivers State Government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Government to accelerate tourism development and position the state as a leading destination for investment and leisure.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara said the partnership reflects his administration’s ambition to transform Rivers State into a world-class tourism hub, describing the vision as creating “our own Dubai” through strategic infrastructure development and investment.
According to the governor, the collaboration will focus on unlocking the state’s tourism potential by developing modern attractions, improving infrastructure, and creating an enabling environment for private sector participation. He noted that expanding the tourism sector would generate employment, stimulate economic growth, and diversify the state’s economy beyond its traditional reliance on oil and gas.
Fubara emphasized that the state is committed to working closely with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to implement sustainable tourism initiatives capable of attracting both local and international visitors.
The partnership is expected to support broader national efforts to promote tourism as a key driver of economic development, while enhancing Rivers State’s profile as a destination for business, culture, entertainment, and recreation.
